RECOPAC® Fumes-to-Water Heat Recovery Unit

RECOPAC®
Fumes-to-Water  Heat Recovery Unit

POZZI LEOPOLDO RECOPAC®, Fumes-to-water  heat recovery unit consists of a stainless-steel cooling battery counting several water-fed plates.
The heat recovered from cooling off exhaustion fumes is transferred to flowing water, thus becoming pre-heated and ready to be used in the dyeing or finishing process. Typical applications include heat recovery from stenters, steamers and polymerizing machines.
The external case of the heat exchanger is provided with an automatic washing system which operates by means of steam distribution devices.  The condensed outcome of the washing process acts as transport medium for the residues created during the heat exchange on the plate surfaces.
POZZI offers two different heat exchange technologies:

  • Inflated plates exchangers: RECOPAC-cube®
  • Annular coiled plates: RECOPAC-coil®
The best technology to apply is determined by each particular application.
The exchanging plates used in the RECOPAC-cube are manufactured in a simple but efficient way: two partially welded sheets are inflated in order to create an internal circuit able to convey the cooling fluid to the entire plate surface.
On the other end, RECOPAC-coil uses the extraordinary characteristics of  ACTE exchangers technology: annular exchangers made with coiled plates: a prime design for efficiency, lightness and compactness.
With both designs, the reduced mechanical deformation minimizes the stress-corrosion problems and the circulation of the fluid around the welding points avoids the onset of interstitial corrosion.
This allows for a thinner thickness of utilized materials, thus reducing costs and maintaining an excellent heat exchange rate with a lower thermal inertia.
The layered plates form a unit which is mounted within the conveying case, which is in turn provided with drop-collecting pockets on its bottom for external discharge.
The extremely small pressure loss on the air-side of the heat exchanger allows for installing it without any modification of the exhaustion circuits of the machine to which it is applied. The unit is provided with a control panel for temperature visualization and a sequencer for the automatic washing process.
In recovering heat from drying flues, and especially from those coming from thermal fixation, the efficiency of the adopted cleaning system is fundamental since it is quite normal for pollutants, which are sublimated by the high temperatures of the process, to collect on the surface of the plates of the heat exchanger.
The automatic washing system used in POZZI RECOPAC® heat recovery units goes back to POZZI LEOPOLDO’s long experience in air-to-air  platular HEATCUBE heat recovery systems, also built with very thin stainless-steel  plates. Such units have been working for over twenty years without problems since the steam condensation washing system is extremely effective in removing condensed pollutants.
